What Makes a Champion?
There is an immense amount of time and research studying and analyzing specific pedigrees. The main objective in breeding is to make sure that you do not inbreed while looking for the perfect cross between the ancestry of the mare and the stallion.
Below is a list of stallions that we often refer to when pedigree crossing. There are several other stallions that we find to be very fashionable. We selected these three as an example, because of their extensive pedigree and fashionable bloodline crossings.

A.P. INDY: Simply one of the best producing stallions in the industry. Standing at Lane’s End farm in Versailles, Kentucky. A.P. INDY is the leading producer by SEATTLE SLEW.
As you are well aware, Seattle Slew won the Triple Crown 1977 and has produced successful progeny as a foundational sire. Attributed to A.P. INDY’s success is his classic breeding, out of a SECRETARIAT mare.
SECRETARIAT was an excellent producer of fillies and mares. The classic cross of SEATTLE SLEW to SECRETARIAT produced the champion runner and stallion A.P. INDY. A lot of the racehorses we research, we look for SEATTLE SLEW bloodlines, when researching breeding pairs.
We agree with many pedigree experts, that horses hailing from the SEATTLE SLEW/A.P. INDY progeny possess an aggressive and tenacious attitude for racing, which undoubtedly is passed down through the SEATTLE SLEW line.
Aggression, tenacity, and athleticism are three of the main features we look for in purchasing a Trojan racehorse. These are three innate features that we at Trojan Racing Stable are able to determine upon examining young untested talent. It is what we do best.

Mr. Prospector-Dancing Tribute, by Nureyev
Standing At:
GOLDEN EAGLE FARM - Ramona, CA
2007 Fee: $7,500 LIVE FOAL

SOUVENIR COPY: Another example of many stallions possessing a one generation link to classic blood. He is the son of MR. PROSPECTOR who was a cornerstone foundational sire of sires within the entire Thoroughbred racing industry.
Located on both his top and bottom side of the pedigree, SOUVENIR COPY’s bloodline is connected to the regal blood of NATIVE DANCER, NASHUA, NORTHERN DANCER, and STOP THE MUSIC. There are numerous champion sons by MR. PROSPECTOR. However, SOUVENIR COPY’S stud fee is an excellent bargain with the appropriate cross.
One of the best bloodline crosses with the MR. PROSPECTOR bloodline, is to breed a STORM CAT mare, or son of a STORM CAT mare, to a MR. PROSPECTOR mare. Statistically speaking, this cross has flourished an unfathomable amount of successful racehorses.

Storm Cat - Yarn
Distance won over: 7f. to 8.5f.
Fee for 2007: US$ 37,500
2006 yearlings made up to $625,000 and 33 sold for upwards of $100,000.

TALE OF THE CAT: Hails from the number one sire line of STORM CAT, sire of more than 140 stakes winners. STORM CAT blood will greatly increase our opportunity in acquiring a champion runner. STORM CAT racehorses pass along an aggressive, ornery, and tenacious attitude, making them fantastic runners.
There are a plethora of STORM CAT sons to choose from, however, what makes TALE OF THE CAT such an excellent producer, is the MR. PROSPECTOR cross on the bottom side of the pedigree. A bloodline crossing of MR. PROSPECTOR and STORM CAT, is undoubtedly one of the best bloodline crosses within the industry, greatly enhancing our opportunity in acquiring a strong and determined runner.

This is just a minuscule tip of the ice-berg of what we look for when conducting a pedigree analysis. There are several other excellent sire lines to mention, but we do not want this page to turn into a book.
